"Unfortunately, due to worsening conditions and another low pressure system expected to affect Ocracoke Island, NC12 on the north end of Ocracoke will remain closed for the next several days."   This is getting more common BUT if you take the passenger only Ocracoke Express ferry it drops you off right in the center of town.
